CULLMAN — June 14 was not just a routine monthly meeting for the Pilot Club of Cullman. After cancelling their May meeting due to post-tornado relief activities, June held a full agenda, including a celebratory program centered around the Cullman club’s 30th anniversary.

The Pilot Club of Cullman’s charter meeting was held in May 1981 and the club has worked promoting community awareness about and supported those living with brain-related disorders ever since. Four charter members were recognized at Tuesday night’s meeting: Gail Gray, Inez Ruehl, Lorene Scott and Carole Garrett. President Elaine Fuller made encouraging comments about the club’s progress over the past 30 years and presented charter members with yellow roses in gratitude for their service.

Membership Chairman Sonya Nix presented the 2010/2011 Membership Building Award to Rebecca Branch for demonstrating a unique desire to build a strong membership base. Nix announced that the 2010/2011 year proved to be a remarkeably success period with nine new members being inducted.

A new slate of officers for the 2011/2012 year were also inducted during Tuesday night’s meeting and are as follows: President Peggy Harris, president-elect; Rebecca Branch, vice-president; Camilla Hendrix, treasurer; Joyce Black, recording secretary; Peggy Day, corresponding secretary; and Directors Ann Fox, Sonya Nix, Shirley Bonner, Carole Garrett and Pam Gasser.

The funds that would have been used for meals during May’s cancelled meeting were coupled with reserve funds to make a $500 contribution to Cullman Caring For Kids.

The Pilot Club’s next meeting will be held Tuesday, July 12. For more information about the Pilot Club of Cullman and their activities follow them on facebook (Pilot Club of Cullman) or visit their website: http://www.pilotclubofcullman.com.
